Notes
What a nice wine! The color in the glass was a clear pale red with an orange hue. The blend incorporates a hand basket of many grape varieties: Grenache 60%, Cinsault 10%, Syrah 10%, Carignan 5% and the balance Clairette, Picpoul, Bourboulenc, Mourvèdre. The palate provided a wonderful mix of fresh strawberries, raspberries, and watermelon–delicious! This is a nicely balanced wine with a seamless integration of fruit, tannins (soft), and just the right amount of acidity. The mouthfeel was quite elegant beyond its price showing some creaminess in the mouth and a surprisingly long finish. This Tavel is an excellent value wine that is a perfect pairing for burger and fries (our choice with this tasting) or would be a lovely choice to pair with a salmon or tuna from the grill.
